Support and Therapy Groups for LGBTQ+ teens in New York
Helping teens navigate feeling alone so they can feel understood, confident and supported.

Tuesday Teen Group Therapy

You've been feeling alone and misunderstood because you're afraid to be who you are at school or there isn't a visible LGBTQ+ group of classmates you can surround yourself with. There aren't other people that look like you, have the same sexuality as you, or you don't want to be targeted by bullies or bigoted peers so you keep a low profile.
In this therapy group, we'll explore your experience at school, in society,
places of worship, or at home and how that makes you feel.
As a group, we will problem solve, challenge negative thoughts, learn communication skills and coping skills to navigate this period of time.
You'll have a group of peers providing support, feedback and a sense of community to make you feel more confident and supported in who you are.
When: Every other Tuesday at 7:00 via Zoom

FAQs
What's the difference between a support group and a therapy group?
A support group has more participants (10-12 people) and lighter discussion topics where you're provided tools and resources. Therapy groups have less participants (6-8) so group topics can be explored on a deeper level and participants are more interactive with each other. In both spaces you receive support and a sense of community.

Does confidentiality apply to sessions?
Yes! Just because therapy is happening in a group setting, it does not mean that confidentiality is ignored. Each participant and caregiver will sign a confidentiality agreement in order to participate in group. The only instances where confidentiality is broken is if someone is hurting you, you want to hurt someone or you want to hurt yourself.

Is there a long-term commitment?
No, group members can leave the group at any time, but need to give a 2 weeks notice.

How does billing work?
A credit or debit card will be put on file and charged every group meeting despite attendance. That way you are securing your child's place in the group.
